어바웃타임 대본공부 - day2

안녕하세요 여러분!

오늘도 쉐도잉 영어공부를 시작해봅시다!

---

제가 쉐도잉으로 하는 영어공부 순서는 다음과 같습니다!

 

① 영상을 보면서 대본을 정리한다.

② 대본을 토대로 모르는 표현, 궁금한 표현에 밑줄을 친다.

③ 한영자막으로 다시 보면서 밑줄 친 표현들이 무슨 뜻인지, 어떻게 사용되는지 밑에 정리한다.

④ 자막 없이 다시 보면서 이해되는지 확인한다.

⑤ 블로그에 밑줄 친 단어와 표현들 정리한다.

- 단어를 정리할때는 명사는 한국어로 최대한 나머지는 사전에서 찾아 영어로!

⑥ 영어 자막으로 다시 보면서 쉐도잉한다.

- 입에 붙을 때까지 하기, 적어도 5번씩!

Scene 2 (02:36 - 04:20)

 

Tim: Yeah, I might just get one.

Kit Kat: You’re absolutely gorgeous.

I'm Katie. What am I drinking?

Jimmy: This is very expensive stuff.

Jay: Come on, it’s nearly midnight.

We’re all going through. We’re going through.

Look, I’ve gotta find you a…

Tim: God!

Jay: Everyone makes little mistakes.

It’s fine. Come on.

Everyone : 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

Happy New Year!

Tim: Happy New year. Sorry.

And so I woke up the next morning, 

hung-over, ashamed of myself, 

- hungover: Someone who is hungover is unwell because they drank too much alcohol on the previous day.

and not realising it was the day that would change my life forever.

Kit Kat: Get up, stupid. Dad wants you.

Hello. Sexy pajamas.

 

Scene 3 (04:21 - 7:00)

 

Dad: Ah, Tim, come in.

Do sit down.

Tim: That’s very formal.

- formal: Formal speech or behaviour is very correct and serious rather than relaxed and friendly, 

and is used especially in official situations.

Dad: Well, um, yeah.

This is an odd moment for me because I had the same moment with my father 

when I'd just turned 21, and after it, my life was never the same, 

so I approach it pretty, um, nervously.

Tim: Okay. When you're ready.

It's all very mysterious.

Dad: Ah, right.

Tim, my dear son, uh, the…

The simple fact is the men in this family have always had the ability to...

This is going to sound strange, be prepared for strangeness. 

Get ready for spooky time, but there's this family secret.

And the secret is that the men in the family can travel in time.

Dad: Well, more accurately, travel back in time. 

- accurately: You can use accurate to describe the results of someone's actions when they do or copy something correctly or exactly.

We can't travel into the future.

Tim: This is such a weird joke.

Dad: It’s seriously not a joke. 

Tim: So you're saying that you and granddad, and his brothers could all travel back in time?

Dad: Absolutely.

Tim: And you still do? 

Dad: Absolutely.

Although it's not as dramatic as it sounds.

It's only in my own life.

I can only go to places where I actually was and can remember.

I can't kill Hitler or shag Helen of Troy, unfortunately.

- shag: BRIT, INFORMAL, RUDE If someone shags another person, or if two people shag, they have sex together.

Tim: Okay, stop.

Um… if it's true, which it isn't.

Dad: Although it is.

Tim: Although it isn't, obviously. But if it was, which it's not. 

Dad: Which it is.

Tim: Which it isn't.

But if it was, how would I...

Dad: The ?' How?' is the easy bit, in fact.

You go into a dark place, big cupboards are very useful generally.

- cupboards: 찬장, 장롱, (문이 바닥까지 닿는) 벽장

Toilets, at a pinch. Then you clench your fists like this.

- at a pinch:  In an urgent or difficult situation; when no other solution is available.

Think of the moment you're going to and you'll find yourself there.

After a bit of a stumble and a rumble and a tumble.

- stumble: If you stumble, you put your foot down awkwardly while you are walking or running and nearly fall over.

- rumble: 우르렁[웅웅/웅성]거리는 소리

- tumble: If someone or something tumbles somewhere, they fall there with a rolling or bouncing movement.

Tim: Wow.

Dad: Is as good a reaction as any.

I think I plumped for ‘fuck!' but it was the '70s.

- plumped for: (UK,informal) To choose; to select.

Tim: No, this is so obviously a joke.

Dad: It’s not a joke.

Why would I lie to someone I’m fairly fond of?

- fond of: If you are fond of someone, you feel affection for them

Tim: Okay.

But, when I come back downstairs after standing in a cupboard with my fists clenched,

you're gonna be in so much trouble.

Dad: Well, let's see, shall we?

Oh, and, Tim, try and do something interesting.

Tim: So much trouble.

I mean it. Really.

 

Scene 4 (7:00 - 8:59)

 

Tim: alright.

Wow

Jay: You all right, Tim?

Tim: Yes. Yeah. Good, ace. Yeah.

Jay: Good, come on. It’s nearly midnight and we’ve got to find…

Tim: Whoa, whoa, whoa!

Jay: Whoo! Midnight.

Everyone : 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Happy New Year!
